Contact a local Ford dealer for a Ford remanufactured price - but I would figure approximately $3,500 parts and labor.

it cost us 2200 plus tax for a rebuilt transmission. GET THE WARRANTY-we love our Explorer, but had to bring it back yet again for a tranny issue since the initial rebuild. We did not go to the dealership-we went to a well known transmission shop. MUCH better pricing there and warranties are the same.

FYI Ford offers 3 years / unlimited mileage warranty on their transmissions. No shop does that.
