how ofter is it necessary. My mechanic said it did not pass the test?

probably every 30,000 miles or so.I like to do the flush when I replace brake pads,and the average time is about 30k miles.
Most manufacturers recommend every 2 years or 30,000 miles. Do you know when it was last done?
