why does my car ac sound like it doesn’t want to shift over to air?

I tried adding some refrigerant today and it would get into the blue zone ( filled ) then the ac would make a clicking noise and the pressure would go down to green which is not filled and would continuously do that. It sounds like the ac system doesn’t want to shift over to cold air cause it is blowing out constant hot air.

How long has your 2002 Ford Explorer had this problem?
