The theft light is blinking and car won't start, like a totally dead battery.

When did the theft light engage? Disconnect battery and wait 10-15 minutes then reconnect. Try to restart car. If your key has a chip, the key may have failed which is tripping the theft system. If you have a second key, try that one after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
