my 2002 ford explorer v8 low miles about 60,000 is having what i thought was a battery problem but i bought a new battery and the cables but my radio still is not going on for at least 15 minutes while driving it! the radio just has lights and static could it be the alternator or just the radio?

If your only problem is the radio issue -- You say you do have lights and static? And then it just starts playing? Does the CD function work at all? If you have no radio function and then it suddenly starts working, think internal radio issue. If you have partial function - like CD works, but no radio FM/AM sound, you could have an antenna or antenna lead problem. I'm not thinking you have a charging system issue based on your concern.
