Why would my Explorer be smoking from underneath between the rear tires

Smoke coming from underneath in between tires notice a small leak but don't know the name of the part that I need to replace

What makes this problem better or worse?

When I start the car and let it run the smoke seems to appear like something's on fire but it's not
