What is your question?
The Explorer is making a loud noise when running, louder when you press the accelerator. The coolant/anti freeze needs to be topped up but there is no obvious leak.

HI! Anti-freeze, as you know does not just disappear. Is the engine running hot? Was is running hot recently and you had it repaired? Do you have any smoke from the tailpipe? As for the noise, does it sound like a motorcycle,? Is the noise coming from the exhaust, from the engine, or is it as your driving faster? Feel free to pass by the shop anytime and I can take a quick look for you. Mechanically yours, Audra www.facebook.com/greatbearautoshop www.greatbearautoshop.com
Howling is probably the Mass Air Flow Sensor on the intake hose leading from your air filter housing. Having to refill your coolant every few weeks could be your freeze plugs (6) on the side of your engine block. After 10 years, they all eventually wear out. Approximately 5 man hours required to change them. You have to drop the motor mounts to get to them, also remove the housing cover. A pain to get to. If you plan on keeping your vehicle, you should pretty much change everything that hasn't already been replaced. Radiator ($69) on Ebay, local stores want $225 and up. Upper & lower hoses, replace the funky clamps with regular hose clamps, replace the thermostat and o-ring. Water pump may be ok to bypass for now. If AC doesn't work, you can change the compressor (4 bolts), drier, add freon with easy kit.($155) P.S. the belt comes off easy by putting your socket drive in the square hole and push down on the TENSIONER. While you have the belt off, you can change the alternator.
