What is your question?
Replaced antitheft system (ECU, ignition and key, transponder, and module) was so excited. It started right up. And than I put it in drive, but I had to move the gear shifter because it was in neutral when the cluster said it was in drive. I went forward for about 5 feet and than backwards 5 feet. And than I shut it off. I wanted to see if it would start again. And nope! It turns over, almost wants to start, but won't. And also, I was just sitting in it, key on the off position, and the overhead interior light came on and didn't shut off so I touched the dual next to the steering wheel that controls the interior lights and the lights started freaking out, and you can hear a clicking sound in the dash as you wiggle the dial. I turn it all the way to the off and Its off. I dunno if they are related. Oh also I noticed my oil gauge is not working in the cluster. The needle is all the way down. Even when I had it started.
What makes this problem better or worse?
I dunno

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Explorer. Based on what you've described, it sounds like there might be multiple electrical issues at play, especially considering the problems with the overhead lights and the oil gauge. The fact that the vehicle turns over but won't start indicates that it could be a fuel or ignition issue, possibly linked to the antitheft system or the electrical connections in the dashboard. Given the strange behavior with the interior lights, I would recommend checking all related fuses and wiring, especially around the steering column and dashboard. A loose or damaged connection could also lead to problems with the ignition or starting system. If the oil gauge is also not functioning, this might indicate a more significant electrical issue, potentially affecting multiple systems. Since you recently replaced significant components related to the antitheft system, it could be beneficial to double-check the installation and connections there as well. If you continue to have trouble, it may be a good idea to consult with a professional who can perform a thorough diagnostic to pinpoint the issue accurately.
