After runin 2 low on oil its ticking realy loud n gauge is crazy. Is it the pump

Its sooo loud i just new i trashed the engine i got lots of horror stories of the damage! A year later n im still drvng it!!! So I've done my own research and most everything leads me 2 the oil pump . Can the solution really be that simple? Is it my oil pump after all???
