car runs great. clicking noise that gets louder when I excelerate

Might also be a cracked EGR tube. One shop claimed they couldn't even find a problem. Another correctly diagnosed it over the phone by my description. This causes exhaust gases to leak out, making it sound like a loud ticking noise. Sounds like it is coming from right below the center concole, at least in my V-8 5.0. Louder during acceleration, and gets quieter as the pipe (engine) heats up and presumably closes down the crack a little from metal expansion. Cheap part from Rockauto.com. Not so easy to get to though for replacement.
