disconnect the connector closest to the fuel pump,if you cannot get to it,find the yellow with white wire and cut it in half.next get a non-powered test light and ground the clip end of it and probe the wire on the vehicle harness side.the light will glow dim.look at your gauge.if it moved off of empty(while key in on position) you have a problem with the sending unit in the tank.
