smoke and water coming from my exhaust

There was caramel looking liquid in my opverflow resevour so i flushed that and when I started my car there was white smoke and water dripping from the exhaust pipe, I drove it around for about 15 minutes and it stopped. Whats the cause of this and how do I fix it?
