What is your question?
When I shut off the air and slow down, the roar stops and air works. This is only at lower rpm. Last time the roar began, the temp gage peaked, but the engine was not hot. When I restarted, the roar stopped and the gage went to normal. Can anyone give me some advice as to where to begin?

The "engine roar" is from the electronic, thematically controlled radiator *cooling fan clutch* spinning the fan faster to cool the overheating engine .. A/C compressor will turn off when engine temperature reaches/exceeds pre-set thermal limit.. When the temperature gauge went to hot, the engine 'was' actually hot! .. Possible failing engine thermostat or low coolant level... Hands-on testing required .. Also possible trouble code(s) stored, suggest scan test.
I wish I had another option. I have replaced the thermostat and when it would overheat the roar would happen so I replaced the Cooling fan clutch and the roar is still there with no other issue that I'm aware of so I am literally lost and honestly running out of options/money
Thanks for the advice. I suspected a fan clutch or a temp sensor. I failed to mention that when the noise begins, the fan will not speed up when you rev up the rpms when idlying The difficult part is it doesn't do it all the time. I let a mechanic keep it over night, he drove it hard (out of town) and drove all over town and it wouldn't make the racket. I will probably go ahead and install the temp sensors too, I can't find anyone that can point out their locations. I have been looking online, but can't find a specific engine diagram for my '07 sport trac (4.6) Again, thank you
