What is your question?
Last summer my truck had numerous moments when it all of a sudden wouldn't start. Sometimes it would go weeks without doing it, and then all of a sudden would do it a few times in a week. It would always turn over, just never start. Usually it would take 15-30 minutes of waiting and then it would turn over no problem. I had the fuel pump replaced before winter and went 9 months with only one incident, in which it started a few seconds later. Unfortunately it happened yet again the other day and would not start for like 40 minutes. Is there something temperature related that could be helping cause this issue? Any ideas on things to check?? Unfortunately it never happens at the shop so it can not be tested and there are no diagnostic codes.

A no start that yields no trouble codes in memory is quite often related to a lack of fuel pressure. However, having owned 2 of these exact vehicles and operated Ford service departments from 1996 - 2015, I can tell you that I don't recall too many fuel pumps failing on these vehicles. Have you verified that the keys you are using are all programmed properly? I feel like you may have a key not communicating with the Passive Anti Theft System (PATS). Does your Theft light flash when you crank when it does not start, or does it stay solid? Watch for this, if it flashes, it's a PATS issue -- try a different key. If it is on solid, it's OK. The only other thing that can be done is to verify the concern when it occurs and see what is happening -- which I know you said is difficult to accomplish. Good luck!
My problem is somewhat similar and hopefully you might have some insight. I have a 2013 Ford Expedition. In my case the car does nothing. It does not crank, just silent. After a few minutes it might start but recently been 30-90 minutes before starts. I have had it looked at and no codes are showing. I got a new key, a new battery and the starter and alternator verified to be good. The theft flash light does not flash. I can go weeks without a problem, but now have had two in last week. When it was not starting for 30 minutes, I called AAA to have towed to dealer, but before they got there it started. Quite frustrating and understandably Ford dealer and my local shop both say unless acting up while they are looking at it, nothing they can do. Any ideas?
If it's a "no crank" situation and the PATS light is not flashing, then there simply must be some kind of wiring or connectivity problem. Corroded or loose battery cables, wiring at the battery junction box, electrical ignition switch issues; something along those lines. You've checked and verified all those components as good. It's a matter of understanding the systems and wiring to see what happens when you turn the key. Is the transmission securely in park -- and does the processor know it? Hooking up a diagnostic tool when the problem occurs would show if you are in park or neutral. I know the biggest issue is that failure is intermittent -- so I get that this is all frustrating. Concerns like this are not typically so random. Often times, something in the vehicle's past influences current concerns. For example: stuff like this can happen after a rainy day, if the windshield was previously replaced, and water is getting into the electrical system of the vehicle from an insufficient seal from the windshield replacement. Things like that become quite apparent after the fact, but when the problem is happening, it seems impossible to discover. Sorry you're having the troubles, and best of luck.
