wondering if its my fuel pump or somthin else.

my car had a hard time starting up, then died half way up the road, restarted but was making a loud buzzing sound. now will not re start, i checked the fuel pump rest switch and it was not depressed. when key is in on position i hear a click but no hum of the pump begining to run is this my fuel pump or could it be a cloged filter or somthing else?
