Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Your Expedition is a four wheel drive model - this is not "all wheel drive" as the four wheel drive mechanism is a part time system only. It sounds like perhaps an axle is binding on turns especially, possibly due to a transfer case or front differential issue. A worn wheel hub could cause whirring noise but I suspect something more substantial.
