could be if the joint is real bad. you would have excessive vibration while driving as well. let a shop check it for you to confirm. Roy

We rarely see many u-joint failures any more. What are your symtoms and under what conditions? Also, there was a couple of different 4x4 systems on this model. For me to know, tell me the 4x4 switch mode positions.
