If only "some" of the instrument panel light are out on your 1998 Ford Escort then chances are some bulbs are burned out. Unfortunately, on most late model cars the bulbs cannot be replaced without sending the gauges "cluster" to a specialized repair shop. You can check with your local Ford parts department to see if replacement bulb are available - if they are not the cluster will need to be sent out for repair.
