What is your question?
It was running rough, (rough idle when starting and slow acceleration) one day after a long drive I turn it off go inside come out and it started, ran horribly for a couple seconds, and died. Now it won’t start or occasionally when it does it dies after a few seconds. I’ve replaced plugs and wires and checked the catalytic converter. From the little of it I can see the timing belt is fully intact
How long has your 1998 Ford Escort had this problem?

Hello, checking engine timing with proper tools and equipment would be helpful. Beyond that, air - fuel - spark mixtures are the key to the engine running properly. Something with the air versus fuel delivery may be out of line - which can be due to sensors and input information to the engine's processor, or could be from mechanical actions of components. Only hands on testing can determine what is happening. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
