Why does car act like it wants to cut off at traffic light

May need a tune up but could just as likely be a vacuum leak or any of a number of other things hard to guess without being able to experience the problem first hand. Is the Check Engine/Service Engine Light Soon on, if so attaching a scan tool to the diagnostic socket may indicate what is causing the engine to stall.
