How to unstick a windshield wiper switch handle on a steering wheel?

I accidentally hit the windshield wiper switch/handle that's on the steering wheel and now its stuck on "ON". When I turn the car off, wherever it stops, that's where it stays. When I move the handle back and forward, its a whining noise for the water sprinkler. I tried to move the switch handle, but its stuck. Before this, no problems. Thank you, Mrs. Barile
