Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. Sounds like you may be facing an intermittent issue in your Escape. The trouble with diagnosing intermittent issues is just that, they're intermittent and they don't always leave a trace that the technician can pursue. It could be as simple as a software glitch, or a sensor intermittently failing that's triggering the warning, or a wiring issue somewhere in the vehicle. While there's no charge for my response, diagnosis fees are normal, necessary, and they're an investment in your vehicle, for the technician's time. Technicians are necessary to keep vehicles on the road, and modern vehicles are much more complex, and require specialized training to be proficient and up to date with technology and diagnostic methodologies. This is especially true when they're chasing an intermittent concern. If you have any other questions feel free to give us a call at 877-913-1554! We'll be happy to help or find you a certified shop in your area!
