Escape randomly starts hesitating, skipping, rough idling, and at times cuts off when idling. Mechanics say they don’t know what problem is because computer says no misfires. Been dealing with this problem 6* months.. no noises.. no check engine light on ever
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Your concern sounds like it is something other than a misfire - so it makes sense that none have been recorded. Unfortunately, there are no "common issues" to share and no guessing to be done. I think of air intake issues - like air getting into the engine when it's not desired, or even the opposite - no air when it is needed. Since the problem is intermittent it's hard to know how that's going to be possible when related to physical parts that aren't changing. It could be an electrical concern; make sure your engine's battery is fully charged and able to accept loads. Other than that, hands on testing must be done when then problem is occurring t get to the bottom of it.
