2016 Ford Escape when it starts it says 4wd off but showed its working

2016 Ford Escape my battery is dying I have a new one putting it In Next week but the last few days it’s been saying 4wd off when I start it. When I go threw the dashboard system it shows that the 4wd is actually working on the intelligent 4wd screen?? Could the battery being dead cause the 4wd off to display
