Hello, based on what I know about the recall, it should be done in less than one day. However, you'll need to work with your local Ford dealership to establish a service appointment, ensure parts are available in stock, and to get a time commitment from them directly, as many dealer service departments have a schedule to keep and have variables in their promise times. Good luck!
I am having the work done on my 2014 Escape today. The dealer says it takes them 8 hours but that's because they want you to either drop your car off the night before or first thing in the morning to allow for their scheduling. In fact, Ford is not reimbursing the dealer for 8 hours of labor... it's more like 4 hours. I know this because I dropped off my car at 8 am and told them I would wait. They said it takes 8 hours and I replied no, it doesn't. Then they say it will take until noon. I told them I would be the one camping out in their waiting room. After I get the paperwork, I will see if I can determine how long the job SHOULD take according to Ford and repost it here.. But there is a 20 minute Utube video that shows the process for removing one latch. Replacing that one latch will double the time the video showed removing it, so 4 hours is maybe just about right to replace all four door latches. The video shows how to remove the door controls, door panel and window from the inside and the removal of the outside door handle. And that's just to get at the latch. A few screws later and out it comes. Then it's just a matter of installing the new latch. There are cables and wires that need to be disconnected and then reconnected. All in all, not a complicated job, just time consuming. Figure on leaving the car for a day and getting it back that same day. But question it if they want it longer.
