Hello, This is always a difficult question to answer. What is the value of making repairs on a vehicle with lots of miles -- one that is quite expensive? You'll have to think of the maintenance history of the vehicle, the presence of any other issues that will require attention now or in the near future, as well as the "unknown" of things to come. Also, what caused your catalytic converter to fail or clog? They typically do not fail as a product of the own age or use - it is usually due to excessive fuel getting into the exhaust system unburned by the engine - causing tempertures inside the catalytic converter to grow to excessive amount, resulting in damage. You will have to decide whether it is worth investing in this vehicle or not based off of all of that information. Since you said it is well maintained, it might be worth the effort and cost. But I would definitely find out what caused the failure in the first place and would check on the engine performance, fuel and air mixtures, and do your best to ensure new parts are not damaged also. There are many factors to consider when thinking of engine and transmission life -- too hard to determine without full knowledge of the vehicle and its history. But I will say that many modern engines and transmissions when well maintained can last a very long time! Follow manufacturers recommendations for fluid services and filter changes and you'll likely enjoy a good life from these components. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me There's a link for another local opinion if you'd like. Perhaps have the vehicle checked overall to know what other challenges may be in your future based on inspection.
