What is your question?
A/C compressor 2012 Hybrid model (electric) replaced. Enjoyed a/c about 15 miles before RPMs began running very high, couldn't drive over 20mph. Pull over, shut off, look under hood, nothing notable, except hood rod was SUPER hot. Never felt one that hot & had cars overheat. Then, hear knocking passenger side and see light color smoke coming from the passenger side wheel well and a bad smell. After 30min, started, did not turn on A/C, and runs fine without a/c being turned on. Know this compressor is electric, but not sure why or how it is affecting the car's RPM, temperature regulation, or how to correct the problem. Is it more likely the repair was not done correctly or the brand new a/c compressor is faulty?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Turning the a/c on
How long has your 2012 Ford Escape had this problem?
Since paying $1,800 for a new a/c compressor. 2 days

Has the high voltage battery filter been serviced? So many questions; you're correct that something is not right here, but It could be from a diagnostic concern, a parts sourcing concern, a related component concern, or even part quality concern.
