What is your question?
I have a 2008 ford escape. On friday we replaced the ignition switch but now it will only turn on when the steering wheel column is all the way down and locked. The car will turn off if you adjust the columnup or down while its on. The windshield wipers now quit working, front and rear. The heat fans stopped blowing and it makes no noise when you turn on the heat or ac. All of the light work on the buttons but the fans won't turn on. I have no idea what's happening and it's winter here. I have two young boys I drive everywhere in this car. Please help me.

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Escape. It sounds like you might have an issue with the wiring in or around the steering column. When you replaced the ignition switch, some wiring or connectors could have gotten pinched, loose, or damaged, which would explain why your heat and wipers are acting up. The fact that the car shuts off when you adjust the steering column suggests that there's likely a bad connection or short. Since these issues are affecting multiple systems, I recommend checking the wiring harness near the ignition switch and inside the steering column. A short in the wiring could also cause fuses to blow. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
