the yellow wrench light would come on after about 20 minutes of driving but then other times it would not. Finally took it in and have been told it is the blend actuator and electric water pump for batteries. my curiosity is why did only the wrench and the car maintenance soon light come on and not the red engine light? is $1021 a fairly standard price for replacement and parts?
After researching, I understand the system better. Two cooling methods for the batteries.. one is airflow ( actuator) and the other water cooling with electric pump and both fail at the same time. This is a 2007 Escape 100,400 miles and hoping to last another 100,000. Husbands same year hybrid Lexus, 104000 miles has timing chain and flush of battery coolant, but Lexus rarely has ever had a failed coolant system with thier hybrids.. ( thank goodness). Lexus recall on a computer part they are paying,, part cost $4000! final bill on lexus includes oil and front brakes $1600. Ford Escape still in process.. $1700.. yikes!!
Ford recalled that and is paying for it. If you already paid for it and still have the receipt, they will reimburse you. The acucator rarely fails along with the pump
