The sunroof does not work; it may be the motor but can you close it manually?

Remove the switch in the roof and use electronic parts cleaner on it and retry it. The control contact points have a tendency to fail in these units. Sometimes you can get it to close with a gentle touch slowly adding pressure till it moves. Try on different points on the switch till it starts closing. Had same problem in my 2002 escape.
