Yesterday my car was miss firing this morning it started shaking check engine light flashing and lost power but didn't go dead hot smell pulled over 30 min later it drove just fine
What makes this problem better or worse?

if you have been driving it like that for 3 months misfiring/shaking,then you have more than likely destroyed the catalytic converter(s) and may have more damage. that smell is unburned fuel dumping into the exhaust system because of the misfire condition. either find/fix the misfire or tow it to a repair shop,ASAP!
