I installed a remote starter but cannot get it to work all the time , sometimes the alarm goes off when it starts , sometimes it doesn't start. Can you remove the anti-theft ring ?

You cannot remove the anti theft ring. What you need is a remote starter that integrates with the PATS (passive anti-theft system) system in the vehicle. Certain models are built to handle the factory system.
