Typically you have to get the CV joint or half shaft, because the ABS ring is pressed on to the outer CV joint. I have taken a used axle, and worked off the ABS ring and then installed it on the axle with the broken ring. I would go to www.alldatadiy.com for instructions and pictures on how to remove the axle etc.
Yes, although finding a part may be hard. getting it off and on can be tough, so be sure to use a little heat to help.
