What is your question?
I think the electronic lock mechanism has failed, and I can't open the rear hatch. How do I open it with the latch inoperative? Neither the hatch button nor the control on the dash will open the hatch.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing the hatch will not open

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! When your Edge's rear hatch decides to play hard to get, it can be a real hassle. If the electronic lock mechanism has failed, you might need to go manual. Fold down the rear seats to get access to the interior of the hatch. Look for a small access panel or a hole in the interior trim of the hatch door. Pop that off, and you should see a latch mechanism. Using a flathead screwdriver or similar tool, you can manually move the latch to open the hatch. Once it's open, you can inspect the electronic mechanism or take it to a trusted mechanic to get that fixed up, so your hatch is back to opening with the press of a button.
