It is 90 degrees outside, the climate control temp shows -40 degrees and the AC is putting out hot air

If the climate control is showing -40 degrees -- obviously there's an issue in the climate control system. The ambient temperature sensor could be faulty, which could affect operation of your system. Testing is required to find out if it's a control issue, a sensor issue or a wiring issue.
