Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! The P1299 code for your 2011 Ford Edge indicates that the engine control module has detected that the cylinder head temperature is too high, triggering the overtemperature protection. Since you’ve replaced the throttle body and still have a rough idle, it’s a good call to consider replacing that sensor. Resetting the ECM/PCM can help clear the code, but it’s essential to address the root cause first. If the sensor isn’t functioning correctly, the code will likely come back. After replacing the sensor, resetting the PCM is a good idea to see if that resolves the rough idle and clears the code.
