Check engine light on after transmission swap. Mechanic says he broke an o2 sensor replacing the exhaust but Didn't say which one or where. I want to inspect before bringing it back.

Crawl underneath and follow the exhaust from converter(s) underneath , up to manifold(s) , bound to see which one!

It is NOT OBDII , so that is IT.

Awesome. To clarify: So The OBD1 version of my van only has 1 O2 sensor? Located before the cat?

Yes , OBDI does not monitor the cat function , and that is all the secondary sensors do.
