Look under the vehicle for fluid leaks. Take for test ;drive and be sure to hit the highway for higher speeds. Check for visible leaks in engine bay after the test drive and pull the oil dipstick and make sure it looks like oil and not muddy and wet (like coolant in the oil). If you still like it, for $900, hard to really get screwed bad right?
what engine,3.9L or 5.8L? that's not a lot of miles for a 96.somebody didn't drive it much or far.that's a little over 13,000 miles a year on average.i bought a 94 f150 5.8L extended cab several years ago.it was automatic, loaded i pulled a 1968 17 foot glassmaster boat,HEAVY BOAT to the river 6 days a week,40 miles round trip.i knew it was back there but that truck ran so good, and pulled so good.no problems at all, untill a rollback hit me in the side and totaled it.caved drivers side in.i bought it back from the insurance co.for $500.00 and still pulled that boat to the river.got a lot of funny looks, but i just waved at everyone and went fishing.if that van starts up and runs, transmission changes good, thats worth $900.00 even if it only last 1 year.they said 900,offer 700,and they will take 800,or maybe 700,if you have money in hand, for some reason, people like the color GREEN WHEN SEEN.let me know how it goes!
