Remove the timing 'spout connector' (ECM bypass connector, look on decal under hood for info) then test for spark from coil as helper cranks engine... Post results.
Make SURE you have battery voltage at the ignition coil + terminal.. Look at the pick-up coil inside distributor for 'mushy' wire insulation where the module connects to it .. IF that's the case, suspect pick-up coil has failed.. You would be just as well off, cost wise, to replace the distributor assembly... I can't guarantee that's the problem but 'IF' the ignition coil and module test out to be ok, that is next most likely suspect. Good luck with it!
Thanks for all the help! I can't get my distributor to come out of engine block so I can put new pickup coil in it! Got any ideas'' as how to get it out east?
Be sure to mark rotor position before pulling distributor .. Spray the hell out of it with Berkebile 2+2 carburetor cleaner, around the base and turn the dist back and forth, spray some more then repeat.. It'll come out! .. I'm telling you that buying another distributor is best way to go .. Got to tear that one all to hell just to replace the pick-up coil, compare prices between pick up coil and reman distributor ... Just saying.... Now IF you decide to install a new pick up, make SURE you mark the gear to the shaft so it goes back on exactly like it came off .. Oh, carb cleaner will help remove the 'gummed up' shaft from the dist housing also... Careful not to bend the trigger plate on top of shaft... Good luck, Big buuck
I tried the spout connector and it still has no spark from coil! What should I try next?
