Thing runs decent but kills a battery while goin down the road lights flicker but it runs at an idle with positive cablw off of battery so that tells me the alternator is workn or it would die rite?

Lights flicker may be due to bad voltage regulator or weak diodes in the alternator. With the battery connected and the car running check the voltage at the battery terminals, you should read 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If lower replace the alternator.
YES HAVE CHARGING SYSTEM CK'D
Alternator is brand new guy i talked to said it maybe the exciter wire. He was busy tho so how do i go about checkn that?
So for sure thats the issue? Cuz im only getting 12 volts Is there anything else cuz the volt regulator is brand new according to guy who owned it b4 me is there ne chance he could have hooked something up wrong on it that would cause that problem
