You'll have to line up top dead center (TDC) for the number one cylinder being at the top of the compression stroke. At this point, rotate the distributor so it is pointing at the number one distributor terminal. Then, lower the distributor into the engine.

Unless the distributor has been removed (?) .. Ignition timing should only need to be set / adjusted to speciations.
