I recently had my water pump and timing belt replaced, and now I am hearing a loud whistling noise coming from under the hood

Have the people that did the work have a look at it. It is quite possible a fan belt was insufficiently tightened. Whistling sounds can also be from a vacuum leak or failing alternator.
