Half Shaft replaced is not the same

I had a passenger side half shaft replaced and the new part has a ABS ring and the old part did not. From looking at part description it seems there is a slight difference in length. I have been told this should not be a problem but I am a little skeptical. The new part is just a bit over 1/4 inch longer and it seems to me this part should just be used if you have ABS. Is it possible this extra length could make the CV joint fit tight? I understand this part flexes while making turns but when straight ahead where is there any play to allow for that 1/4"?
