Even though the check engine light has not come on should i still check my Computer for Check Engine Codes? Thanks for your help

My Stratus has 264,000 miles on it I love that it is comfortable and safe. But mine is doing the same thing that yours is doing. I have had serval people tell me to have a tune up done on it cause of the mileage. But also to keep it running.
