The engine shut down when it was being driven by my son and will not start

before you assume the fuel pump is bad, make sure the timing belt has not failed. diags are a process that you need to follow so you dont replace unneeded parts. the fuel pump is in the tank and the tank needs to be dropped down to gain acess. Roy
I have replaced the fuel pump and timing belt is ok. The car just shut down while driving and would not start I noticed a sensor under the exhaust pipe coming from the top of the engine I was told this is this is a fuel pressure sensor the top is broke off where it plugs into the electrical connection how do I get the rest of it out of the engine it looks like it take a socket but I don't want to brake anything do I need a special tool
that is called an oxygen sensor. it screws into the exhaust. it takes a 7/8 socket or wrench. I have never had one cause the engine to fail. the pressure sensor is part of the fuel pump. I still think you will have a problem. did you do a compression test?? Roy
