I am trying to remove the front engine mount. I am replacing

this means the support arm from front of engine to back must be removed completely. the part in which the round housing supporting the new mount? at each end as a matter of fact. Correct? thx acely1

why not replace the mount altogether it would be simpler

I m sorry but when you say the mount all together, that would be the whole bar with front and rear mounts, (the round 3" to 4" cylinder type mounts.). I really didn't notice them to be seperated from bar???
