2017 Dodge Ram 2500. If a shop does NOT change the oil, but resets the oil change indicator to make you think they did, will the system show that it needs changing again sooner than normal? Or does it simply to by "average use" mileage? I'm afraid that's what's happened as the oil is particularly dirty, even for a diesel, and don't I know if I should get it changed "again" or just trust the indicator. I took it back because the indicator red 64% oil filter & 63% fuel filter usage right after the supposed change and they said they just forgot to reset the indicators, so they reset them then. Thanks!

That happens all the time - especially with younger- inexperienced helpers working at the shops.. It is like just an honest mistake.. (The service reminder must be re-set after every oil change)
Additionally - new oil will look like old oil in just a few minutes of ‘diesel engine’ operation.
IF you are still suspicious - ‘mark’ the oil filter for later identification..
Thank you!
