what will cause my 2000 dodge ram wagon not to start

won't start?won't crank over?cranks but not start?no crank-no start?won't do nothing,no power?i don't think i would take it back to the same place,cause the water pump sure ain't gonna keep it from starting.also the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank,part of the fuel pump assembly.
