What is your question?
Fuel pump replaced, now the fuel gauge doesn't work properly. When I fill the tank, the gauge only goes 5/8th up, stops, and stays there for a while. Suddenly it goes to full. Then after approximately 20 miles, the check engine light comes on, the low fuel light comes on, and the gauge drops to empty. Had the fuel pump replaced again with the same results. Had the pump replaced again and the same thing happened. Everything was fine until I had the fuel pump replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good truck up to this point.

you either have a wire pulled out of the fuel pump connector, shorted or loose for the sender or you have the wrong fuel pump assembly in the tank.1. FUEL LEVEL SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE.2. FUEL LEVEL SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN.3. GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN.4. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR.5. PCM ...35 Gallon Tank or 26 Gallon Tank or 34 Gallon Tank or 97.9" bed length or 75.9" bed length or 35 Gallon tank. Crew Cab or Standard Cab?where did you buy the pump? did you take the bed off,or drop the tank?standard cab, ext. cab or crew cab?
Thank you for your assistance. I'm a little disappointed to hear that the pump is junk, but, so be it. I'll purchase one from the dealership and have it installed. FYI, I have been using Pep Boys for over 40 years and they have always be fair in price and quality of parts. I realize that once in a while, these things happen. My local Pep Boys have been very understanding of the situation and have only charged for the original replacement and their price was $200.00 less than the dealership. At this point, I'll work with the Service Manager to resolve the problem. Thanks again.
Had it replaced at Pep Boys and they did drop the tank. They used their Spectra brand fuel pump. Other information is a follows: Crew cab, 26 gallon tank, 75.9" bed, 5.7L engine, auto trans, 98,000 miles.
they have to drop the tank on a crew cab, because if they pull the bed on it,the fuel pump access would be under the back seat.they should have dropped it anyways to clean it out! only reg cab and ext cab would work by removing the bed.the SPECTRA fuel pump is JUNK,just like AIRTEX is JUNK!! that's why Autozone,Advance,Oreilly's have switched vendors on their fuel pumps.there may be a few in stock at these places,BUT as soon as their stock is depleted, they will no longer sell those two brands.they have switched to Delphi fuel pumps! VERY HIGH return rate on those two brands of fuel pumps,Spectra,Airtex!this is the one that is for your truck if it's a crew cab and a short bed.>> Spectra Premium/Fuel Pump, Part Number: D7022M Vehicle Specific> Price: $199.99> Warranty: Limited Lifetime> Notes: Fuel Pump Module Assembly. 26 Gallon Tank. Includes Pump, Sender, Float, Strainer and Fuel Reservoir. Crew cab pickup. Short bed. i bet THE BOYS charged you dearly for that job?
