AC had not worked for over a year. It was checked for leaks and recharged approx. 200 miles ago. $100. Blew cold air at first but has steadily diminished to almost no cool air at all. Compressor runs for a few seconds and quits for a few seconds. Constantly cycles like this, several cycles per minute. Any input greatly appreciated - have 1000 mi. plus trip coming up this week. - tasker

it is leaking somewhere.have it checked again.you can get the freon with UV dye in it, and check for leaks with a UV light,and glasses.
Thanks for your reply. Mechanics said they used the uv dye. Guess I'll take it back tomorrow and ask them to check again. If it's not a leak, any other thoughts?
when the clutch cycles on,off,on,off,on,off.90% of the time,the freon is low.the other thing is the cycle switch is bad.good luck with it.

Return visit to shop, mechanic confirms there is a leak - inside. Must remove dashboard and replace cooling unit/coil. Recommends replacing heater coil as well. $800. Ouch. Got another estimate, $475. Somewhat better. Thanks again.
